Deepika Padukone reveals Hollywood’s shallow attempts at diverse casting, details inside!

Deepika Padukone is on her way to becoming a global superstar. Following her success in Bollywood, the actress made her Hollywood debut in 2017 with xXx: Return of Xander Cage. She unveiled yet another international initiative in August of last year, this time with the support of her production house. But what about the West’s diversity? DP isn’t entirely persuaded that it exists. Details are listed below.

Deepika is set to star in a cross-cultural romantic comedy, for those who are unaware. It will be co-produced by Eros STX Global Corporation’s division STXfilms and her Ka productions. Many expected Padukone to be seen in many more Hollywood movies after xXx with Vin Diesel, but that hasn’t happened in a while!

In the latest interaction with Vogue, Deepika Padukone has called out the diversity in Hollywood. “Right now, the conversation around diversity in Hollywood is surface-level. The minute you have a Black or Asian actor, it’s considered ‘diverse casting’. But we have a long way to go before we start seeing substantial change. I feel like 80 percent of the people in charge are still looking at inclusive casting as a box to be ticked. No doubt, there are some who are genuinely interested in turning the tide, but they are getting it quite wrong. It’s a learning process and I hope it’s an earnest one,” she said.

Talking about Deepika’s work front, we last saw the actress in Shakun Batra’s directorial Gehraiyaan. The actress has a jam-packed schedule ahead of her, including the remake of The Intern, Pathaan with Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham, Project K with Prabhas, and Fighter with Hrithik Roshan, among others.
