A big news coming out as Deepika Padukone has been appointed as the new chairperson of MAMI -The Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image. The leggy lass has replaced the popular filmmaker and Aamir Khan’s wife, Kiran Rao. Reacting on this news, she said, she is glad and honored to get such a huge responsibility at this age. She then said that she completely endorses the vision of the organization and that she with her team will be committed to creating a good community, which in a passionate film country like India needs. As per the media reports, Kiran Roy was holding this position but had to step down as she was not able to focus on her project.
The Aamir Khan’s wife said that it had been her pleasure and privilege to be associated with MAMI’s team. She said she is delighted to see the new choice of the group and that she welcomes her on this responsible position. She said she has known Deepika Padukone as a competent actress and that she will play the best role being the new chairperson of MAMI. It was Anupama Chopra who tweeted about this news in the social media when she shared a news covering at Mumbai Mirror to make the news spread like wildfire. In her tweet, she congratulated both the outgoing and incoming chairperson of MAMI. She then wrote the baton has now passed from one lady to the other.
She then thanked Kiran Rao for giving her time and services and welcomed the Padmaavat actress. She then said that she is eager to work with the new chairperson to strengthen the academy. Besides the leggy lass, we have Nita Ambani, Isha Ambani, Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Vikramaditya Motwane and Rohan Sippy in the list of trustees. Talking about Deepika’s work, she is the part of Meghna Gulzar’s next film made on the life of acid attack survivor which is a biopic, and she is doing the lead role in it. The film is all set to hit the floors. The film is titled as Chhapaak which she is doing along with Vikrant Massey.
