This time the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award will be offered to Gulzar who has been chosen by the broadcasting ministry. Gulzar has written for many films and his words have the power to capture anyone’s heart because of his deep meaning songs. He has worked for iconic movies and now he is the 45th recipient of this honorable award. Gulzar has worked with world class music directors like Laxmikant Pyarelal, Shankar Jai Kishan, Madan Mohan, Rajesh Roshan, etc. He is not just a lyricist but he has contributed as a film writer, dialogue writer and a script writer.
He has also received Padam Bhushan in 2002 and now selected for such a classic award. He also won National Film awards and 20 filmfare awards. Dada Saheb Phalke award is the highest award in Indian Cinema which was introduced in 1969 as Dada Saheb Phalke is considered as the father of the Indian Cinema. This award is offered to give recognition to those people who have contributed immensely to the Indian Cinema and it is a great honor that Gulzar is selected for this award.
He is the evergreen soul of Indian Cinema and some of the films won critical claim. Some of the films written by him are, Koshish, Aandhi, Maachis and Mere Apne. For several Doordashan serials also, Gulzar wrote lyrics which made him more famous. In 2002, Gulzar was awarded Sahitya Akademi Award. Gulzar is recognized more for his poetry which comes straight from his heart.
