Cocktail 2 Gets ‘A’ Certificate: Marks Kriti Sanon’s First Adult-Rated Film & Rashmika’s Second After Animal
The next two weeks are set to bring massive excitement to the box office with two highly anticipated big-ticket releases: Cocktail 2 and Welcome To The Jungle. Leading the charge is the star-studded rom-com Cocktail 2, featuring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna. Scheduled to hit theaters on Friday, June 19, 2026, the movie has already generated massive buzz thanks to its iconic franchise value, chartbuster soundtrack, and a fresh lead trio.
Advance bookings for the film officially went live at midnight on June 14, bringing with it a major update from the censor board. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has officially cleared Cocktail 2 with an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certificate. Alongside the rating, the film’s official runtime has been locked at 150 minutes, making it exactly 2 hours and 30 minutes long.
This adult rating marks a historic first for Kriti Sanon, becoming the very first ‘A’-rated film in her successful 12-year acting career. For Rashmika Mandanna, this is her second mature Hindi release following the historic success of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal (2023). Meanwhile, leading man Shahid Kapoor clocks the fifth adult-rated film of his career, following Kaminey, Udta Punjab, Kabir Singh, and his early 2026 release O’Romeo. This marks the first time in Shahid’s career that he is delivering back-to-back ‘A’-rated movies.
The original Cocktail, which became a cult favorite upon its release in 2012, starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty. While director Homi Adajania and producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films have returned to steer the ship for the sequel, the two films differ significantly in censorship. The 2012 original was cleared with a more family-friendly U/A certificate and a runtime of 146 minutes, making the upcoming sequel exactly four minutes longer and noticeably more mature than its predecessor.
