Additionally, reports indicate that Chhaava sold nearly 5 lakh tickets in advance bookings for its opening day. These figures mark Chhaava as Vicky Kaushal’s highest-grossing opener, surpassing the Rs 8.20 crore opening of Uri: The Surgical Strike. Furthermore, it has claimed the title of the biggest opening film of 2025, exceeding Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force, which earned Rs 15.30 crore on its opening day last month. The film features an ensemble cast, including Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai and Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb, along with Diana Penty, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, Chhaava officially premiered in cinemas on February 14, 2025.A review from Moneycontrol.com highlighted, “Vicky Kaushal embodies the might and valour of Sambhaji Maharaj, displaying a range of emotions from fierce determination in battle to touching tenderness.” One of the film’s standout moments is the intense fight scene between Sambhaji and a lion, showcasing his bravery. However, early reports suggest that Chhaava has faced a significant challenge, as the film was leaked online just hours after its release.
Various sources indicate that the full film, running for two hours and thirty-five minutes, is available on several piracy websites, posing a threat to its box office earnings. With a production budget of approximately Rs 110 crore, many viewers are opting to watch the pirated version instead of purchasing theater tickets.
