Aamir Khan starrer blockbuster ‘Dangal’ impressed the audience with its powerful and inspiring storyline. The film was praised also for stellar character performances. Zaira Wasim, the adorable Kashmiri girl essayed the role of younger version of the wrestler Geeta Phogat. She earned lots of praises for her performance in the film. There are some interesting unknown facts about this young girl, who did a great job in her debut flick.
Zaira Wasim’s immediate family did not support her decision of acting in a Bollywood film. However, Zaira’s aunt and school principal convinced her parents to let Zaira act in the film as it’s her passion.
She bagged the role in the film ‘Dangal’ out of 19,000 other girls who were there for the audition.
Zaira Wasim has also featured in Tata Sky’s commercial filmed in Gulmarg as well as for a Nokia Lumia advertisement that was shot in Uttar Pradesh.
She believes herself as a shy individual with limited friends. But, she is very much attached to her pet.
Apart from acting, playing the guitar is also Zaira’s passion.
Other than these lesser known facts, there are other interesting things to know about this young talent. Zaira Wasim was born in the year 2000 in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Her father is an Executive Manager at Jammu and Kashmir Bank and her mother is a teacher. She had multiple injuries while taking training for the film ‘Dangal’ and they made her stronger.
Talking about acting in films, Zaira once revealed “I take life as it comes. If another film offer comes my way and doesn’t affect my studies I will take it up.”
Zaira Wasim will next be seen in upcoming movie ‘Secret Superstar’ in which she will once again share the screen with Aamir Khan, who essays a quirky music director called Shakti Kumaarr. Zaira portrays the role of a teenager, who aspires to be a singer. She meets Shakti Kumaarr and the journey begins!
