The film has an interesting star cast, which include Hrishikesh Joshi, Vaibbhav Tatwawadi, Suhas Joshi, Pooja Sawant and Aasawari Joshi in the lead and supporting role. The director itself has carried out the screenplay, while the lyrics have been carried out by Akhil Joshi. The film photography is carried out by B Laxman, while choreography is carried out Vrushali Chavan and Amit Baing. The film falls under comedy and romance, which has the certification of U/A. Now, let us dig in deep into the cheater as under:

Synopsis

The film feature has a man in the lead role that is known as cheater in his circle for the reason that he keeps on conning people for his own interest and fun. He has a girlfriend from a rich family, who once seeks help to get an exorcist from Pune to get rid of the ghost elements found in their new home. Instead of getting anyone for this job, he goes in the avatar of an exorcist as he is non-believer of such things, however, he faces a lot in the hunting home, which turns out an interesting thing to catch in the film.

Review

The film comes with a strange blend; it has comedy with the elements of horror infused in it. However, the two elements never go together, which the director has dared to experiment in this film. But looking at the outcome of the film the audience gets is nothing but a perplexing stuff, which is far away from the entertainment value that often is looked in every movie releasing on Friday. Thus with a great confusion, the humorous film with a supernatural drama in it gives a confusing result, which makes it difficult to call a love or revenge story. Thus confusion at the core, the film is clubbed with a number of other elements that one can find in both the domestic and overseas film.

Star Performances

Talking about the performances of the actors, Hrishikesh Joshi in the lead role of cheater seems to be okay but not par as his personality is unable to suit the character of the film. Next comes Pooja Sawant in the lead actress role, she seems good at the silver screen and the director has successful used his glamor in the film, however, in terms of performance, she lags behind. The others in the film are okay but doesn’t often impresses the audience with extra ordinary performances.

Direction, Photography, Editing and Technical elements

The film has a director who is known to have made seven movies in M Town, hence can be called as an experienced man in the industry. Thus everyone has greater expectations from this man; however, he seems to have faltered in his efforts in making cheater. The film is made in an amateur fashion, which is not expected from directors of his caliber. Talking about photograph, the film has a decent one, which allows you to catch soothing environment of Mauritius. Talking about the elements like screenplay and editing, these went tight but have somehow failed to give the impression, which it should give.

Cheater Last Word

Cheater is a confusing film, thanks to the contrast elements like comedy and humor interwoven in it, the film therefore make you laugh under the garb of fear giving a confusion content at the end. The film seems to drag at many point of time for the scarcity of good content in it. Despite an experienced director in the film, Cheater fails to impress with both story and performances thus it doesn’t really deserve a higher rating.

Rating – 2.5
