Centurion University confers Kamal Haasan with Honorary Doctorate
Kamal Haasan is often in news in the media. The actor turned politician gives enough reasons to be seen in different media headlines. This time he is making news for getting the honorary doctorate degree. The prestigious degree was awarded to the veteran actor by the reputed institute – Centurion University of Technology and Management in Bhubaneswar. The honorary doctorate was awarded by none other than the Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Kamal Haasan is a known actor turned politician along with being the founder and president of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM).
He was awarded the degree for his huge contribution to the Indian cinema. While talking on the occasion, the Minister said that it was his honor to attend this special event when he is seen conferring the award. He called the actor as a legend who has served the country with his meaningful movies and humanitarian works. He congratulated him for the honor and applauded the number of experiments he has done in his films.
He even cited his performance in a silent movie called Pushpak that remains his all-time favorite for the minister that gave good names to our country in the global cinema. The minister also applauded his efforts of how he turned his fan club into an organization that is involved in humanitarian activities. He then said that this speaks volumes about his commitment towards human values. While accepting the honor, the actor turned politicians appealed the students to take the full advantage of the skill development opportunities along with contributing significantly to the nation’s growth.
