CBFC Cuts 7.12 Minutes from Singham Again: Removes Simmba’s Flirting Dialogue and Modifies Ramayan References

With just a few days left until the epic Diwali showdown, anticipation is at an all-time high. Recently, we shared updates on the censor cuts for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, and now we present an exclusive report on another highly awaited release this Friday, Singham Again, featuring an all-star cast including Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, and Jackie Shroff.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has awarded Singham Again a U/A certificate, but not without requiring several modifications. The Examining Committee requested changes to two 23-second visuals that depicted Lord Rama, Sita Mata, and Lord Hanuman alongside characters Singham, Avni, and Simmba, respectively. Additionally, a 23-second visual of ‘Singham touching the feet of Shri Ram’ was also modified.
The filmmakers were instructed to remove a 16-second clip showing Raavan grabbing and pushing Sita during a dramatic scene, and a 29-second segment featuring ‘Hanuman burning’ along with flirtatious dialogue from Simmba was cut entirely. Dialogue involving the character Zubair was edited in four instances, while conversations between Zubair and Simmba were adjusted as well. The visuals and dialogues of the Constitutional head were altered in two places, and it’s presumed that Avni’s visual was also modified in one of these scenes.
Further, a 26-second dialogue and visuals were deleted and modified due to concerns over “affecting international diplomatic relations of India with neighbouring states.” A scene depicting beheading within the police station was blurred, and the color of a religious flag was adjusted. The use of ‘Shiv Strota’ in the background score was removed, and a line from Zubair, “Teri kahaani ka Raavan main hoon, tere chahite ko bhej,” was suitably modified, along with the flag’s color in that scene. In a final note, the CBFC requested a revised disclaimer stating, “This film is purely a work of fiction…
Although the film is inspired by the story of Lord Ram, neither its narrative nor the characters should be viewed as revered deities… The story features contemporary characters of today… or societies, and their cultures, customs, practices, and traditions.” This disclaimer runs for 1 minute and 19 seconds, while the total duration of the cuts amounts to 7 minutes and 12 seconds. After implementing these changes, the CBFC officially approved the film on October 28. The final runtime of Singham Again is now 144.12 minutes, or 2 hours, 24 minutes, and 12 seconds. It is set to release on Friday, November 1.
