‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ Box Office Day 1: Salman Khan- starrer action- entertainer takes a slow start with Rs. 15.81 crores

Salman Khan’s action-entertainer ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ was one of the most anticipated films of 2023.  ‘Bhaijaan’ was returning to theatres on Eid after nearly four-year and as the release date got closer, excitement was at its peak among the actor’s fans as well as industry insiders. Despite  all the hype and massive promotion, ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ has started slowly at the box office, collecting Rs. 15.81 crores nett on its first day as per a latest tweet by trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

This falls far short of Salman’s previous big-screen Eid blockbuster, Bharat (2019), which grossed a huge Rs. 42 crores nett in India on its first day.

Salman Khan has a massive fan following in India, and his films have a proven track record of doing well at the box office and hence such a poor box office opening that too for a commercial family entertainer film will definitely send shockwaves to actor’s fans and industry insiders. But despite such a below average opening, ‘Kis Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan has become the second highest Hindi film opener of the year, behind Pathaan (Rs.57 crore nett).  The film has managed to do a little better in mass pockets, single screens and tier-2 multiplexes.

The film’s dismal first-day box office performance, as well as the mixed reaction from audiences and reviewers, is a complete negative indicator for the film’s future box office chances. Though helped by the Eid holiday, the film has a good chance to show good growth on Saturday and Sunday. Ideally from here the numbers of the Salman Khan starrer should be jumping towards 20-21 crore Rupees. The fact that there are no significant releases in the next weeks will also help ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ break the Rs. 100 crores nett mark at the Indian box office.

Helmed by Farhad Samji, ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ also features Pooja Hegde, Venkatesh Daggubati, Jagapathi Babu, Bhumika Chawla, Vijender Singh, Abhimanyu Singh, Palak Tiwari, Raghav Juyal, Siddharth Nigam, and Jassie Gill.
