Abhishek Bachchan to work in ‘The Big Bull’ sequel

Three months ago, the producer of Abhishek Bachchan’s ‘The Big Bull’, which was released on Disney+ Hotstar in 2021, revealed that he is looking forward to making a sequel to the film, and that work on the sequel’s script has already begun.

According to the newest BollywoodHungama report, film’s producer Anand Pandit has confirmed that Abhishek Bachchan will be part of the sequel. “We haven’t decided (on the cast yet), but we will definitely do it (the sequel) with him,” Pandit said.

Anand Pandit also mentioned that the overwhelming positive response to the first film inspired them to begin the work on a sequel. “We got an excellent response for The Big Bull on OTT. Because of this, we felt this could be a sequel and a regular sequel because a lot of financial crimes keep happening around us. I feel films should be made to expose these crimes and its masters. So, we felt let’s encash The Big Bull’s brand equity,” revealed Anand Pandit.

‘The Big Bull’ was largely based on real-life stock market broker Harshad Mehta for the uninitiated. Abhishek Bachchan played Hemant Seth, while Ileana D’Cruz played a journalist who exposes Hemant’s scams. Kookie Gulati wrote and directed the film. The film earned mixed reviews and was compared to the critically acclaimed web series ‘Scam 1992,’ which was also based on Mehta’s life.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Abhishek Bachchan was last seen in social comedy ‘Dasavi’. Helmed by debutant Tushar Jalota, and produced by Dinesh Vijan under his banner Maddock Films, the film saw him play the role of an uneducated politician. The film also starred Yami Gautam, and Nimrat Kaur. Abhishek will be next seen in R. Balki’s intense drama, ‘Ghoomer’. The film features Abhishek Bachchan in the role of a coach.
