Of course you know this actress – Amisha Patel, who came in limelight with her debut movie Kaho Na Pyaar Hai in opposite Hrithik Roshan. Well, she was born on 9th June in 1976 in a prestigious family in Mumbai. She went to Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai and for her colleges headed to United States wherein she studied Economics at the prestigious Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, she topped in the subject getting gold medal from the university. She started her career by working as an economic analyst at one of the security companies called Khandwala Securities Limited, later she got an offer from Morgan Stanley, however, she rejected the offer to return to India.
After returning she joined the theatre group of Satyadev Dubey wherein Amisha did a number of Urdu plays written by Tanveer Khan. Simultaneously, she also entered into modelling and was seen doing a number of commercial campaigns, which included the brands like Lux, Fem, Fair & Lovely, Bajaj Sevasharam, etc. Her personal life has been controversial in the media. She dated Vikarm Bhatt for around five years and then broke up with him due the rift between her and Vikram’s family. Meanwhile, she alleged that her parents misused all her hard earned money by sending them a legal notice to return the sum of 120 million back to her. After the breakup and the family drama, she was spotted with Kanav Puri in London, later she announced her relationship with this man. After dating again for around 5 years, she broke up with him to focus on her career.
In 2000, she was offered a film Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, which was big hit giving her recognition in Bollywood. Amisha Patel‘s next venture was a south Indian movie called Badri, which also was a big hit. Later in 2002, she got Gadar: Ek Prem Katha opposite Sunny Deol, which turned out hit based on Indo Pak war 1947. She bagged a couple of awards for these two films. However, her next movie Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar flopped at box office, while her other films like Yeh Hai Jalwa with Salman Khan was an average at box office. However, with Humraz, she got her success back, which even gave her nominations in several award functions.
Her phase of 2003 to 2006 is considered to be a slump, since she failed to give any hit neither in Bollywood nor in south Indian movie world. However, her success returned with the multistarrer movie called Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. This gave her few films but not all were among the successful projects in Bollywood. Some of her recent movies include Race 2 and Shortcut Romeo, while her upcoming movies include Bhaiyyaji Superhitt, Desi and Run Bhola Run. Apart from acting, she is also involved in stage performances and a number of humanitarian causes wherein she promoted a number of events of different NGOs and social organizations.
