Cameron’s Avatar to re-release in theatres on THIS date with an enhanced 4K format

Avatar featuring James Cameron is returning to theatres all over the world on 23rd September 2022 in an enhanced 4k high dynamic range format. Disney and 20th Century have both announced the movie’s comeback recently. This well-known sci-fi movie will also get its sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water on December 16, i.e around three months after the release of the enhanced old version. 

Avatar also stars Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldona, and you will be able to access it for a two-week limited time. The new trailer of this 2009 movie came out today on the official Instagram account of 20th Century Studios.

Avatar impressed the audience all over the world and went on to become the top-grosser movie of all time at the global box office. It earned more than 2.8 billion USD in profits. It got 9 Oscar nominations which included the best movie and the best director award. Among 9, it won 3 awards for best cinematography, visual effects, and production design. 

A special expanded cinematic re-release of Avatar happened exclusively in IMAX 3d and 3D theatres in 2010 which collected over 44 million USD globally. It was also re-released last year in China earning 57.7 million USD. 

Disney+ has also removed Avatar from its platform before its re-release in theaters. Once the re-release version and the sequel of Avatar hit the theatres, it will return to the streaming platform again.
