Box Office: ‘The Kerala Story’ continues it’s dream in the 2nd week too; collects more in 2nd week than 1st week

Sudipto Sen’s ‘The Kerala Story’ maintained its dream run at the box office in its second week as well. In fact, the film made more money in its second week than it did in its first.  The film earned Rs. 91 crore in its second week, bringing its total 14-day earnings to Rs. 171 crore nett.

Taran Adarsh, a box office trade expert, announced the film’s second-week box office figure on Twitter.

Despite some controversy, the film’s box office performance has remained unaffected, and ‘The Kerala Story,’ starring Adah Sharma, Yogita Bhalani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnan, has now established its spot as the second highest-grossing Hindi film of 2023.

For the uninitiated, The Kerala Story has been fraught with controversy, and it’s screening has also been prohibited by the West Bengal government. The Supreme Court of India, however, has stayed the West Bengal government’s order prohibiting the screening of ‘The Kerala Story.’

With the lifting of the screening ban in West Bengal, The Kerala Story now has a chance to enter the Rs. 200 crore club by the end of the third weekend.

The Kerala Story enjoyed a free run at the box office for the last two weeks because there was no severe opposition, but starting this week, the film will face stiff competition from Hollywood thriller ‘FastX. As per early estimates the Vin Diesel-starrer grossed over Rs. 13 crore on its first day in India, which is a pretty excellent figure. So it will be interesting to see if ‘The Kerala Story’ manages to continue it’s dream run at the box office in third week or Vin Diesel’s ‘Fast X’ eventually takes over this box office competition.
