Ever since Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film called Padmavati hit the floor, it has been surrounded by several controversies and detraction. The film sets were destroyed twice, the filmmaker had to face abuses and even the case of manhandling was registered by the officials. When the film went into the post-production phase, we saw the controversies surrounding the movie and the agitation against it kept on snowballing. This came in the form of announcing price money to cut the nose of Deepika Padukone playing Rani Padmavati in the film to even announcing 10 lakhs for raping the lady.
The burning of the effigy of the filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali along with even slapping this man in public has been part and parcel by the detractors agitating the film. However, with all this agitation the Censor Board asked to resubmit the film with some changes once it finally gives its version of it. So, when the film was submitted again, the CBFC allowed the film to release with the U and A Certification along with changing its name and asking the makers to have 26 different cuts in the film. Let us check what really went with the film. First, it was the Karni Sena that stood against the movie and then the censor board did the rest of the things.
The board asked the makers to change the name from Padmavati to Padmavat as the poem that refers the story of the lady is named with the same. Then the song Goomar will have several revisions. The film has got U/A Certification by the Censor Board. A special panel comprising historians and other experts sat together to suggest 26 different cuts in the film. And then came the number of trolls that made fun of the censor board and the changes being made. But amidst all this, what remains interesting is that several states including Rajasthan have banned the film although it has got the nod from the censor board.
