Box office : Ek Villan surpasses all the set expectations

Ek Villan posters

You will always find Ek Villan or one damages in every love story shown in Bollywood movies. Right from the movies of Black and White days to the current ones released lately, there is no dearth of villains in our Indian Masala movies. However, there are very less films with everyone in the movie being the villains. The yesterday released movie Ek Villan is among it. You have three main characters in the movie- Guru deprived orphan, the gun toting goon- Aisha and uncanny Ramesh with multiple shades in his character. All these culminate together into a slushy and drippy romantic movie backed by a sinister violence as well.

Even before the movie banged the theaters, the reviews surfaced at various sites proclaiming it as one of the best movies of the week, which is expected to cross 10 crore the very first day. The next day, while checking the web trends in the very first half, the occupancy reported tolled to around 80 percent with many theaters in Mumbai, Delhi NCR, and even Kolkata (Khan’s own place) too were seen showcasing house full boards. This raised the expectations of the filmmaker, critics and experts playing with the numbers found over the Box office. Ultimately, when sun went down, the evening brought bigger news or surprises for the movie.

At the end of day one, the figure at Box Office collection went staggering tolling to 16.72 crore, which wasn’t expected by anyone. Though most of them really hoped to see things positive but reaching to such an extent wasn’t unexpected. This made ‘Ek Villain’ the second highest grosser at day movie of 2014 to say the least. As per the business analyst, the opening of Ek Villain was one of the highest one in screen average perse. Most of the experts believe that the kind of hype being generated before the movie release has helped to see such an incredible response on the day one. Not only the Indian market but also the overseas business of the movie went whopping. In UK, the movie made 62,905 pounds, which is more than any Bigwigs’ movie in the country, while Australia too had similar figure of 19,592 Australian Dollar. As per reports, the movie became the number one choice for the young audience, who wanted a break (literally) from the horrible and unnerving Humshakals released last week.

The unique chemistry between the Ashiqui 2 and Students of the Year stars created the buzz and rest of the favours was propelled by none other than the comic hero – Riteish who experimented on a role with several grey shades the first time. So, too many different things worked together in the favour of the movie fetching it a whopping 167.2 million mark for Ek Villain. Last but not the least let’s not forget the director Mohit Suri, who was successful enough to move things around successfully backed by his witty writers. If you haven’t seen the movie, you can certainly think of going and see the difference.
