Bollywood’s record of highest grossing films gets updated more than often. All the biggies in the Bollywood industry seek to claim a position in the list. The power of the Khans is evident for the highest grossing are films are those in which the three much popular Khans have acted. Shahrukh Khan , Aamir Khan and Salman Khan’s films compete to draw the crowd and the collection of each is a Mega news in Entertainment. After PK secured the highest position among the elite club of highest earners, Aamir Khan has once again confirmed his claim to the top position. Earlier it was the same actor’s action flick Dhoom3 which topped the chart of high grossing Bollywood films.
Although each of the Khan have their share of success , it is difficult to pick the leading Khan in the run of highest grosser. However if we go by statics, it is Aamir Khan who assumes a higher place in the competition. Aamir’s 3 Idiots , released in 2009, created a record of a huge sum and stuck to it for four years. When Shahrukh Khan’s Chennai Express surpassed it in 2013, it collected 422 crores leaving behind the former’s395 crore. In early 2014 , the record was broken by Aamir Khan’s, Aditya Chopra film, Dhoom 3 which collected 542 crore.
Salman Khan and Jacqeuline Fernades starrer Kick looked promising at the box office and collected a handsome sum of 377 crore. It secured a place below Chennai Express and 3 Idiots before the release of Happy new Year around the end of the 2014. With the arrival of PK all the records have been written again.
Hrithik Roshan’s Super Hero flick, Krrishh 3 is close below the Kick with a total collection of 374 crore. 2012 released Ek Tha Tiger collected a sum of 320 crore. This Salman and Katrina starrer film was a superhit for its dazzling pair. The film owes its financial success only to the star pair which attracted huge crowd to the theatres. Salman Khan’s Dabang 2 and Dabang were preciously high earning films. Bodyguard also reached a high position in which Kareena Kapoor starred alongside him. Before this Shahrukh’s Home production, Ra One , once again starring Kareena Kapoor, had collected huge sum.
With PK collecting 611 crore in its third week , it has left behind the other films. But as they say, records are made to be broken so let’s wait and watch how long it will hold the top position.
