Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha to be completely banned in West Bengal

Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha was released at the box office on the 11th of August. It was said to be one of the biggest releases of this year, but the movie has not seen any growth in its collections. Theatres owner and distributors are suffering losses which resulted in canceling the show. The movie didn’t do well in theatre and even the boycott campaign added an element at the box office. Laal Singh Chaddha has been booked under PIL (Public Interest Litigation) in the Kolkata High Court for citing peace and disorder. Which resulted in a complete ban in the state of West Bengal

According to Live Law India, “BJP leader and lawyer, Nazia Ilahi Khan have moved the High Court. She stating that the situation in the state is extremely volatile about any religious issue. In this regard and to substantiate her arguments. The petitioner has referred to some of the recent instances when the state came under a critical situation.”

It further said, “The trend in Social Media has been advocated by quite a large amount of people. They would further not want others to go and watch this film in the theatres as that would make their ‘hard work’ go futile. Such anger and frustration on seeing that some people are going to watch the film. Which can lead to a serious threat to the law and order situation in the State of West Bengal. People who want to boycott the film may not let others watch the film in the theatres. And this may lead to tussle and further may loosen the grip of the State over the law and order situation. Such a situation seriously leads to apprehension that the law and order situation. The State may be compromised if the film is exhibited in the theatres any further.”

Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha is produced by Aamir Khan’s home production with the involvement of his wife Kiran Rao. The movie is directed by Advait Chandan.

For the unversed, Aamir’s Laal Singh Chaddha  was surrounded with negativity long before its release. Netizens started trending #boycottlaalsinghchaddha claiming that the actor is Hinduphobic and earns wealth making movies on Hindu religion only.  Amid the strong boycott trend and the moving inching towards the release, everyone associated with their team requested people not to boycott their movie. as it is hard work of around 260 people. Even then, the movie couldn’t manage to perform well at the box office, and is considered as one of the biggest flops by Aamir after ‘Mela’.
