The film Bhoomi is all about a father fights for his daughter’s dignity apart from being the comeback film of Sanjay Dutt. The film, however, failed to start with a big bang for obvious reasons as we know that the year 2017 has been slow and down for the Bollywood at the box office. Also, the other films coming in its way in the form of Newton and Haseena Parkar too showed the heat of competition in some way or the other. Hence the film was seen opening up with a minimal figure of around 2.35 crore along with collections on Saturday as 2.47 crore, while on Sunday in it.
As per reports, the 1st weekend box office collection for Bhoomi went to around 9.23 crores, which is actually low collection for a film, which boasted much on the comeback of Sanjay Dutt. Now, the film could only work with the positive word of mouth buzz in the media, which as of now seems week. For the director Omung Kumar, it is the third film after Mary Kom and Sarbjit. Though Mary Kom was seen winning applauds the other film Sarbjit had failed to give a good impact over the box office and appeared as the unsuccessful film at the box office despite having Randeep Hooda’s best performance.
We saw a good performance of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and with the current collection, the film seems to be going in the same direction. However, the film Bhoomi has a decent comeback collection with the seventies style film that happens to be a revenge drama reeking over the staleness. Now, with Haseena Parkar and Newton too released on the same, we barely would see a decent collection for the film due to the obvious competition between the trio.
