Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai producers react to Shilpa Shinde’s sexual harassment allegations

Shilpa Shinde

The television industry following the Kapil Sharma fiasco was stirred by another controversy today. Shilpa Shinde who had hit the headlines last year for abruptly leaving the comedy show Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai, is back in the news for the reason that will shock you. Shilpa who played Angoori bhabhi in the show has accused her producer’s husband, Sanjay Kohli, of sexual harassment and has also filed a FIR against him.

The 39-year-old actress has alleged that Kohli had often tried to take advantage of her and had also touched her inappropriately once to which she had firmly objected. Shilpa also said that Kohli used to threaten her and would tell her that if she wouldn’t get into a physical relationship with him, he would throw her out of the show. As appalling as it sounds, Shilpa also claims that her make-up man witnessed this happening, following which he was fired.

However, defending her husband, producer Binaifer termed the allegations to be “false” and told a leading daily, “These are obviously false allegations. All I can say is that the matter is subjudice. I have faith in the legal system. I don’t want to give her (Shilpa) unnecessary attention.” Now as the fiasco has taken the Internet by storm, the show’s production team has finally reacted to the accusations in an official statement.

The statement released today reads as “All we can say is that matter is subjudice, we have full faith in the judiciary. We will see her in court. We don’t want to give her unnecessary importance for her obvious false allegations” Incidentally, Shilpa and the BJGPH team are already involved in a legal battle. The producers have sued the actress for Rs 12.5 crore to make up for the losses they had to bear with during her absence last year.
