Sanjay Dutt on political stand, “I will not be joining any political party”

Popular Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt is soon once again bringing his entertainment factor on screen with his upcoming film, Prasthanam. With the trailer already released, the top star is getting a lot of attention as it depicts the upcoming film to be an intense version of the veteran actor. In the meanwhile, a lot of suspense is being thrown about, Sanjay Dutt joining politics but, denying the Maharashtra minister’s claim that he would be joining politics very soon, Sanjay has cleared his stand.

Making a statement on the same, the state Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Mahadev Jankar had made an announcement that Dutt will be joining his party, Rashtriya Samaj Paksh (RSP), on September 25.

However, the 60-year-old actor, who has earlier dabbled in politics being part of the Samajwadi Party has clarified that he wishes Jankar luck but, as far as his joining the party is concerned, he would not be joining any party.

Making a statement on the same, Sanjay Dutt said, “I will not be joining any political party. Mr Jankar is a dear friend and brother of mine and I humbly wish him good luck for his future endeavors.”

Jankar mentioning his remarks said, “We have started working in the film sector as well to expand our party. As part of which, actor Sanjay Dutt is also joining the Rashtriya Samaj Paksh on September 25.”

Dutt was earlier the Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate from the Lucknow Lok Sabha constituency in 2009 but, also did withdraw after the court refused to suspend his conviction under the Arms Act.

The actor-producer was later appointed as the general secretary but, resigned from the post and eventually left the party.

Reports have been coming up about Dutt joining politics right ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, but he had always kept denying all such reports.

The actor’s father, late Sunil Dutt had won the elections from Mumbai North West constituency as a Congress leader for consecutive five terms.

The film veteran had served as the minister of Youth Affairs and Sports in the UPA-I government during 2004-May 2005 just before his death.

Dutt’s sister Priya Dutt is also a former MP of the Congress from Mumbai.
