This is a forthcoming Hindi movie that is based on biographical sports drama and Omung Kumar is its director and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, being its producer. The screenplay and story is scripted by Saiwyn Quadras. This movie ‘Mary Kom’ is said to be based on the real life of Indian boxer of the same name, who is an Olympic medalist. It stars the popular actress Priyanka Chopra taking the lead. The supporting actors are Shishir Sharma, Minakkshi Kalitaa, including Zachary Coffin as the German boxing coach. The movie is scheduled to be released on the 5th of September, 2014.
To get familiarized with the actual life of the boxer, Priyanka Chopra had visited Kom’s hometown located in Manipur. This did give her a firsthand knowledge and insights of her life. The visit was very much fruitful, since she received plenty of advices from Kom. However, the latter stated that Priyanka had learnt much about boxing before her visit and hence, she had given her tips as to how she had managed the home, and her profession, gave tips as a wife and a mother, how she lived with her family. Basically, Priyanka was briefed about her family life aspects, so that they can she take it right. Also, Priyanka had undergone extensive training schedule to suit the role of boxer for about ten days for ensuring agility and physicality before the shoot.
The initial phase of the movie was shot at Filmistan, Mumbai. But it was postponed for a long time due to Priyanka’s father’s illness. The second schedule began around 28th Feb’14 for about 45 days. The fist look, much awaited poster of Mary Kom was recently released and was given a cheer by the audience and her fans. This movie is about the challenges and triumphs against every odd faced.
