Bahrain Censors Refused To Grant Omreta A Censor Certificate

Trouble is not looking back as Hansal Mehta again suffered. Last week Hansal Mehta run into trouble when a Kolkata Businessman filed a complaint against him of non payment of fees. With regarding this complaint, Court had issued an order directing Mehta to deposit all earnings from Omreta to into another separate bank account. Now Omreta is facing another big trouble and this time in the overseas market Bahrain. Bahrain censors refused to grant Omreta a censor certificate. As per latest report, ” The censor board in Bahrain has refused to grant Omreta a censor certificate since the movie is highly Anti Muslim. Same issue was also there in Gulf market but now that’s have been solved and it will release normally there.

Omreta is a Indian Biographical crime drama movie. It has been directed by Hansal Mehta and stars Rajkumar Rao in the role of Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh., British terrorist of Pakistani descent. The film explores the 1994 kidnapping of Westerners in India for which Omar was arrested and served time in prison and the plotting of murder of wall street journalist Daniel Pearl in 2002.

Rajkumar Rao who played the role of Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, watched several videos, documentaries and hate speeches of Sheikh repeatedly to gather a lot of anger and hatred inside himself. He expressed he was disturbed during the shooting because of the character he was playing and called it easily the toughest character he had played till date. The title of the film refers to the Italian term for a criminal code of honour that encompasses absolute non-cooperation with legal authorities.

Central Board of Film Certification cleared Omreta with an “A” certificate, with only two cuts, where the censor board has asked for the national anthem to be removed from an offensive scene and a scene involving full frontal nudity that was showcased to portray the mental condition of the protagonist.
