Baahubali 2 does a smashing business in Pakistan

Baahubali 2

The director SS Rajamouli has achieved the unthinkable with his epic period drama, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. The film has broken several records in Indian cinema and Baahubali 2 has now opened to fantastic response in Pakistan too. Baahubali 2 is the first ever dubbed regional film to have been released in Pakistan. The film is running to packed houses in over 100 screens, say reports.

According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, veteran Pakistani distributor Amjad Rasheed was quoted as saying, “The film has especially got a huge response in single screens, even though it purports mythology and Hindu tradition to a certain extent.” Deeply rooted in Indian ethos, Pakistan officials were a little apprehensive at first. But Baahubali 2 was passed with a clean ‘U’ certificate without any cuts by the Pakistan censor board.

“Baahubali 2 was passed without a single cut since the PCB did not find anything objectionable in the film,” said Rasheed. As per trade figures, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is expected to rake in 6 crore Pakistani rupees at the box office. It must be noted that several Bollywood films have been banned in Pakistan. In fact, superstar Aamir Khan’s Dangal was supposed to release there. However, Aamir decided not to release the film after the Pakistan censor board asked the director to omit the scenes featuring the Indian national flag and the Indian national anthem.

Meanwhile, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has received phenomenal response from all quarters and has grossed Rs 1475 crore worldwide. The Prabhas-starrer is now the highest grossing Indian film of all time. Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah, Sathyaraj and Ramya Krishnan star in pivotal roles in this instalment of Baahubali too
