Azhar The Movie – Trailer Review

Azhaar trailer review

Just recent the most awaited film Azhar- The Movie’s trailer has released unleashing the dirty story the cricket encompasses. The film is a biopic based on the life of the ex-skipper of Indian Cricket Team. However, after catching up the trailer, it was seen unlike any other biopic film. Most of the such films falter owing to one key reason that the stories of such films are not often inspirational or aspirational. However, you can still find such movies turning the tables in the game of movies and thus could be seen too often releasing time and again. Interestingly, Azhar The Movie is one of the first biopic to be made on Indian Cricketer and the shabby picture it has.

In a nation where cricket is not less than a religion releasing this film seems to be an interesting thing to do and that too on a controversial figures like Mohammed Azharuddin giving him the chance to make headlines. He was among the most talented cricketers and successful captains in Indian cricket history but his involvement in betting has led him down despite being given a clean chit by the courts yet his fans are not keen to remember him. You find the filmmakers claiming that Azhar is one of the best man to be made as his life has all the elements, which are a perfect ingredients of any Masala film. This include love, lust, deceit, rise, failure, downfall and scam.

However, as we start giving a look at the film trailer,  the man at the center playing the character of Mohd Azhar played by Emraan Hashmi doesn’t really resemble to the cricketer. That makes the teaser look awful. Well, Emran resemble more like Manoj Prabhakar but this is not about him but of Azhar. Though a film on Azhar has lots of scope to make a typical B Town masala film, this is where the director is seen winning a couple of brownie points. In the two and half minute shows you can find a varied extremes of the character of Azhar. You would be taken a back when find the bat of Azhar turning controversial which once upon a time was a symbol of celebration.

The trailer invest more time in building up the persona of Azhar into a hero kind of image along with showcasing his life of match fixing and betting to some extent. The tagline of the film yells, Love Home, Hate Him, Judge Him, but the director seems to love Emraan who doesn’t really look like Emraan. However, Nargis Fakhri playing the character of Azhar seriously resemble to the actress who fall in love with the cricketer. On the other end, you can find Embark with a moustache that look more fake than real and the worst part is most of the logos found on the uniform of Indian cricket team really didn’t exist when Azhar played. Forget about finding the wristy shots of Azhar that made him world famous.

The film releases on 13th of May 2016 and rating of the trailer doesn’t really that impressive as the scope of the film has. The film is directed by Tony D’Souza, while produced by Ekta Kapoor under the Banner of Balaji Films. It has Emraan Hashmi, Prachi Desai, Nargis Fakhiri and Lara Dutta in the lead roles, making it more a women centric film then a biopic.
