Ayushmann Khurrana’s name is being considered for Mahesh Manjrekar directorial Swatantraveer Savarkar biopic

Earlier it was announced that Sarbjit producer Sandeep Ssingh will be making a film on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, also commonly known as Swatantraveer Savarkar. The big-budget film will be directed by Mahesh Manjrekar. Ever since the film was announced there is a lot about The lead actor who will play the historic character.

According to the reports, the team is considering two big names in the industry. A source was quoted by Bollywood Hungama, “The bid was between Rajkummar Rao and Ayushmann Khurrana. The team is clear on one fact – they need a terrific performer to pull off this challenging role and they zeroed in on Raj and Ayushmann. Both of them were spoken to, for the film and it seems the team might have expressed their interest in one of them already.”

The same source adds, “Ayushmann has a slight edge over Raj. Rajkummar has many films lined up which he needs to shoot next, whereas, Ayushmann clearly has delivered better box office numbers than Raj on average. The budget for this film will be high, so they want a bankable star and Ayushmann is their first choice. They are already in talks and it needs to be seen if they mutually agree on the project anytime soon.”

There was buzz that Randeep Hooda has also been considered for the role. however, nothing official has been out yet.

Earlier while talking about the film Mahesh Manjrekar said, “I have forever been fascinated by the life and times of Veer Savarkar. I believe he is a man who didn’t get his due in history. The fact that he evokes such strong emotion points to a life that must have impacted so many. As a director, I know it’s going to be a challenge but one that I want to take on”.

The film is set to be shot in London, Andaman, and Maharashtra.
