Vivek Gopan is well known to Malayalam TV audience as Suraj in the popular serial drama Parasparam on Asianet. Vivek is a cricketer by profession and his passion for acting has landed him the lead role in the serial. Vivek is portrays the character of an understanding and supporting husband to the character of Dipti , an IPS officer in the serial.
Family Life:
Born on 3 April 1983 in Thiruvanthapuram, Vivek was inclined towards performing arts and sports from a young age. He was trained as a dancer and still performs many stage shows in regional art. Vivek was struck by the acting bug much later. Previously he was a state level cricketer who represented in the under 19 Kerala team. Although he never progressed in cricket from there, he began his career in a pharmaceutical company. Having a creative bent of mind and passion to perform, Vivek was driven towards TV serials and ad films. His introduction to filmmaker Priyadarshan during his cricketing days paved the way for his entry into serial. Parasparam was his first major break in acting.
Acting in films:
Basically known for the serial Parasparam, Vivek has also been a part of films under big banners. In 2011, ‘Arabiyum Ottakavum P Madhavan Nayararum’ , produced by veteran film maker Priyadarshan had Mukesh and Mohanlal playing the lead with Vivek essaying a small but important role.
Later in ‘Ee Adutha Kalathu’, ‘Nakhangal’, ‘My Fan Ramu’ and ‘Thalsamayam Oru Penkutty’, Vivek appeared in key roles and was noticed for his subtle and realistic acting.
In the Bollywood film Kamal Dhamal Malamal, Vivek played a small role in the ensemble cast.
The cricket followers of Kerala remember him for his powerful batting performance in the celebrity Cricket league CCL for Amma Kerala Strikers Cricket Team.
As Suraj in Parasparam:
Parasparam is a family drama that also touches various aspects of the society’s attitude towards women. The lead character Dipti is an adept woman who has the grit to deal the odds in the society and also to bring up a home with family values. Vivek plays Dipti’s husband who supports her in her decisions. The couple is distinct from the male chauvinist ideals which sets them apart.
