After making headlines since past few days, the film Article 15 starring Ayushmann Khurrana has finally hit the screens yesterday. The film is somewhere based on the 2014 Badaun rape case, also talks about the pertinent issues like caste-based discrimination in our country. This has made the movie to sustain in the media buzz. The film managed to get a decent buzz in the media for the strong storytelling and cinematography along with good content and outstanding performances that translated at the box office to a great extent.
The film opened up with 10-15 per cent of occupancy rate at the box office and slowly and steadily it increased to get an inflated figure at the box office with a higher occupancy rate. Thanks to the fierce competition it faces from Shahid Kapoor starrer film Kabir Singh, the collection on day one was not overwhelming. As per reports, the 1st-day box office collection for Article 15 reached to around 5.75 Crores, which is an okay figure for the day. However, the word of mouth buzz seems to be great for the film.
It is likely to boost up the collection in the first weekend. The experts feel that the word of mouth buzz for the film has been positive so far and it will help the film to score not less than 20 Crores on the first day. The film has been in the controversy for taking up the pertinent issue in the B Town. It is directed by the Mulk fame director who has been known in the Tinsel Town to make films based on pertinent issues of the country. Let’s see how things would roll in the coming weekend but as of now, the picture seems rosy for the thriller film.
