Anushka Shetty born as Swatee Shetty on 7 November 1981 is a popular name in Indian film industry. She often works in Telugu and Tamil film industries. She was born and brought up in Mangalore, she went to Bangalore for her schooling and then went on to do her BCA (Bachelors in Computer Applications) from the popular Mount Carmel College, however, and she started her career as yoga instructor and later got trained in Bharat Thaku. As far as her making her career in films are concerned, it was purely accidental, which happened with the Telugu movie called Super in 2005. She vaguely went for the audition to get selected for the role considering her looks and decent acting skills.
The film gave a good launch pad in the south Indian films wherein she featured along with Ayesha Takia and Akkineni Nagarjuna. However, the film managed to get a mixed review giving a decent recognition in the film industry. The next year she did another film called Vikramarkudu wherein she paired opposite Ravi Teja, which turned a big hit giving lots of recognition in the media. The film also gave her positive reviews, which helped her to do wonders in her career. Since then it was no looking back for her. Some of her early movies include Don, Rendu, Maha Nandi, King, Billa, Vedam, Ragada to name a few.
As far as her recent movies are concerned, these include Linga, Yennai Arindhaal, Baahubali: The Beginning, Singham II, Mirchi etc. Her upcoming movies include Rudramadevi, Rudrama Devi, Inji Iduppazhagi, Size Zero, Oopiri, Thozha, Baahubali: The Conclusion, Singham 3 and Devasena. Regarding the awards, she has been nominated at a number of award functions, and thus was able to manage to get a couple. These include Tv9 Awards for Lalitha Kala Parishath for best female actor, Jaya & Vijya Awards for Deivathirumagal best female actor, for Vedam she got the awards at all the award functions, and similar was the story for the film Super and Arundhati.
