Anurag Kashyap’s much awaited project ugly has finally been screened in India after its first screening in Cannes film festival. Ugly , the much ambitious project of the acclaimed director was screened in the Leh film festival. The festival was had an audience that included filmmakers predominantly from India and eminent army officers along with senior media persons. The film will hit the Indian theaters in a couple of months.
Ugly received tremendous response from the audience present in the screening and everybody was full of praise for the film and the director. After the screening, Kashyap made a humble request to the media persons and others present there not to disclose the story of the film as it is yet to release. He seemed to be elated with the way the film was received by the audience. Later while talking about the film, he disclosed that it is a very different subject that he has dealt with in the film. It is conventional and impaction. He also said that he did not share details about the film even with his filmmaker buddies since the subject was quite sensitive and delicate.
The director was recently in news for reasons other than his good films. His split with actress and wife Kalki Keochlin and his new found love in his Assistant director Sabrina was a matter of public interest. The 41 year old is now ready with this new venture which interests us with its title itself. When asked the reason behind the unusual title, he said “ you will find that out once you watch the film. “ Now that tempts us even more!
