Happy Birthday Ravi Kishan: First Bhojpuri actor who wants a ban on vulgarity in Bhojpuri cinema!

Actor turned politician Ravi Kishan turns a year older today. The actor has actively been a part of the Bhojpuri film industry. And after a long struggle, he has managed to mark his name in the list of highest-paid actors. He has worked in several hit Bollywood movies like ‘Tere Naam’, ‘Luck’, ‘Phir Hera Pheri’, ‘Bullet Raja’, ‘Batla House’ and others.

The actor has done over 450 films for the Bhojpuri cinema and is trying hard to ensure that like Kollywood-Tollywood, Bhojpuri cinema gets good recognition.

Ravi Kishan and Ajit Singh starrer film Jala Deb Duniya Tuhra Pyar Mein was produced by an American company. And the film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival. He has been associated with Bhojpuri cinema for almost three decades now and has played a crucial role in popularizing this regional cinema. After winning the Gorakhpur elections the actor turned politician pointed out the vulgarity in Bhojpuri films and songs was hurting the minds of the young generations.

The actor has written letters to Union ministers and the Chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, demanding a ban on vulgar content in Bhojpuri films and songs. In his letters, Ravi Kishan has pointed out that the Bhojpuri-speaking population in the country is around 25 crores.

“These people deserve a better deal and vulgarity that is being dished out by Bhojpuri cinema and in its songs, must be stopped,” he said.

He also mentioned that Bhojpuri films and songs already released, must be brought under the purview of the proposed law.

“I feel time has come for us to cut out vulgarity and ensure that Bhojpuri cinema is recognized for its quality and content. Today Bhojpuri cinema has become synonymous with vulgarity,” he said.

He has also initiated a private member bill to include the Bhojpuri language in the eighth schedule.
