First Ray Films has unveiled the teaser poster for the eagerly awaited action thriller Lakadbaggha 2: The Monkey Business, marking a milestone for the franchise and its creator, actor-director Anshuman Jha. The reveal coincided with Jha’s birthday, making it a special personal and professional celebration.
The film focuses on the endangered Celebes crested macaque, a rare primate native to Indonesia, also known as the North Sulawesi ‘Yaki Monkey.’Alongside the poster release, the makers announced a worldwide theatrical release slated for Diwali 2026, positioning the sequel as one of the festival season’s major action highlights. The film is also set for a prestigious film festival circuit run between June and November, ahead of its global launch.
Directed by Anshuman Jha, Lakadbaggha 2 continues the journey of Arjun Bakshi, a Kolkata-based animal-loving vigilante who fights to protect voiceless creatures from cruelty and exploitation. This time, his mission takes him to the forests of West Java, Indonesia, expanding the story beyond India to address the global crisis of wildlife trafficking.
The film combines intense hand-to-hand combat with a powerful environmental message, building on the first installment’s unique hero one motivated by compassion rather than revenge.Joining Anshuman are Sarah Jane Dias, Adil Hussain, Vikram Kochhar, and international martial arts star Sunny Pang, known for his role alongside Tom Hardy in Havoc. The cast also features Dan-Chupong from Ong-Bak, underscoring the franchise’s ambition to craft an action saga that transcends borders while highlighting urgent ecological concerns.Speaking about the project, Jha said, “Lakadbaggha 2 is deeply personal to me.
Lord Hanuman has been an inspiration since childhood—symbolizing strength, loyalty, courage, and service. This film is more than a sequel; it’s a cinematic prayer to Lord Hanuman, a tribute to perseverance, and a humble homage to the extraordinary animals sharing our planet. It reflects the belief that humanity’s bond with nature must be rooted in respect and responsibility. I truly believe and live by the mantra that being ordinary is a superpower.”Lakadbaggha 2: The Monkey Business is set for a worldwide theatrical release during Diwali 2026.
