Amitabh Bachchan’s onscreen characters left a mark on our hearts

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s glorious journey is worth remembering today. He is the only star in Bollywood who is still working on different projects even in his 80s. The evergreen actor has made an irreplaceable place in the audience’s heart. We all have to agree to the fact that no actor in Bollywood has the potential to match the standards that Big B has set.

The legendary actor is counted among the most eminent figures in the industry. He has won several national and international awards for his onscreen roles, including the Padmavibhushan in 2015 for his contribution to art.

Big B has been ruling the hearts of the audience for five decades with his varied roles in movies. On his 80th birthday, let’s have a look at some of his iconic characters that left a mark on our hearts.

1. Baghban’: Raj Malhota

Who doesn’t know about this family drama released in the year 2003? From Gen Z to teenagers, everyone has watched this film, and it’s definitely on their favourite list. Amitabh’s portrayal of a senior citizen who is neglected by his grown-up children depicts the reality that occurs even today. His energetic character, despite playing an old man, inspires many senior citizens to live their lives with dignity. It also shows how love is more important in a relationship than blood ties. Love is essential in your life, and there is no age or end to showing your love to your partner.

2. Sooryavansham: Hira Thakur & Thakur Bhanu Pratap Singh

Well, this is among the most aired films on television that were released in the year 1999. But, it still airs often on TV. Sooryavansham shows Amitabh in a double role, as a young man, Hira Thakur, and an old village head, Thakur Bhanupratap Singh. Big B has aced both the characters at the same time, playing them with perfection. On one hand, he portrays a tough village head, whom people respect and fear. On the other hand, he is seen as a soft-hearted, kind man who is completely innocent.

No matter how many times we watch this film, we will ask for more. Since it’s a family drama, it often makes a great watchlist with your family.

3. Viruddh: Vidyadar Patwardhan

This 2005 film by Mahesh Manjrekar used a soundtrack in the background to make it musical. Amitabh Bachchan’s role as a man who fights to get justice for his dead son and even goes against the system left us impressed. This is one of the strongest roles the actor has played in this Bollywood journey.

4. Kaala Patthar: Vijay Pal Singh

Kaala Patthar is Yash Chopra’s classical movie which is still recalled by the audience. In this film, Amitabh Bachchan’s character, Vijay, had fewer dialogues and expressed many more emotions through his facial expressions. This is also among his most popular on-screen characters.
