Ameesha Patel Stranded in Muscat Following UAE Airspace Closure and Missile Strikes

Bollywood actor Ameesha Patel found herself caught in the middle of escalating regional conflict on Monday night, May 4, 2026. While traveling from New York to Mumbai on an Emirates flight, the actress’s journey was abruptly interrupted when UAE airspace was closed due to fresh missile strikes targeting Dubai. As a result, her connecting flight was diverted to Muscat, Oman, where she and hundreds of other passengers remained stranded for several hours.

The actress took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to share her distress and the reality of the situation on the ground. She posted:

“On my way back to MUMBAI from NEW YORK on Emirates! As we were about to land in DUBAI the airspace closed in UAE due to fresh missile Attacks! We have now been diverted to MUSCAT n are awaiting further updates !! When will this WAR end !! Praying.”

Her post quickly went viral, drawing concern from fans and highlightling the severe impact of the ongoing conflict between Iran and UAE forces on international travel. According to official reports from the UAE Ministry of Defence, their air defense systems successfully intercepted several ballistic and cruise missiles on Monday, but the proximity of the threat forced the immediate shutdown of Dubai International Airport (DXB), one of the world’s busiest transit hubs.

Impact on Regional Travel and Aviation

The disruption experienced by Ameesha Patel is part of a broader “aviation meltdown” currently sweeping through the Middle East. Data from May 5, 2026, indicates many things. Over 50 flights have been canceled across the region, with Emirates and fly dubai being the hardest hit. More than 200 flights are currently delayed as airlines navigate dynamic airspace closures around the Strait of Hormuz. Dubai International Airport has seen a staggering 66% drop in passenger traffic compared to last year as travelers avoid the region due to the heightened risk of drone and missile incidents.

Ameesha Patel, best known for her recent blockbuster Gadar 2, remains hopeful for a swift resolution so she can return home to Mumbai. Her experience serves as a stark reminder of how regional conflicts are increasingly dictating the schedules of global travelers and celebrities alike. For now, the actress joins thousands of others in Muscat, waiting for the skies to clear.
