Amazon acquirs the iconic MGM studios in $8.45, James Bond film’s producers assures this will not affect No Time to Die

Amazon has acquired the iconic MGM studios in an $8.45 billion deal on Wednesday. This means some of the classic films and shows such as the James Bond franchise, The Handmaid’s Tale, and Legally Blonde, will add to Amazon’s extensive library of cinema. As soon as the announcement was made it created a huge noise in the business and entertainment world.

This will take Amazon a step ahead of its rivals Netflix and Disney+. Mike Hopkins, senior vice president of Prime Video and Amazon Studios was quoted by NDTV as saying, “It’s very exciting and provides so many opportunities for high-quality storytelling,”.

Seconding this, Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s founder quoted as saying, “MGM has a vast, deep catalogue of much-beloved intellectual property. With the talented people at MGM and the talented people at Amazon Studios, we can reimagine and develop that IP for the 21st century.”

On Wednesday while conducting the company’s annual shareholder meeting Mr Bezos made the statement. According to the reports Mr. Bezos stated that Andy Jassy would be taking over as CEO on July 5. This is the same day when Amazon was incorporated in 1994. In February this year, Mr. Bezos had announced that he would be stepping down as CEO.

James Bond film’s producers, however, assured that this deal will not affect the upcoming release of No Time to Die staring Daniel Craig.

As soon as the news broke the netizens as usual made it into witty memes on the internet.
