Will “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” Mark Akshay Kumar’s Return to Theatrical Success After Nearly 2.5 Years?

The anticipation is building as we approach the release of the next highly awaited Bollywood film after Hrithik Roshan’s blockbuster. We are referring to none other than “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,” starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in lead roles. With high expectations from both the industry and audiences, this film holds great significance, particularly for Akshay Kumar. Read on to find out more!

Before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Akshay Kumar was on a roll and was even hailed as a consistently successful actor due to his back-to-back hits. He had a phenomenal run in 2019, where he delivered not one or two but three films that crossed the 200 crore net gross mark – “Mission Mangal,” “Housefull 4,” and “Good Newwz.” However, since the pandemic, the actor hasn’t had the best of times.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, Akshay Kumar has only had one successful film, namely “Sooryavanshi.” Yes, “OMG 2” was also a success, but it did not feature Akshay in a prominent role, with Pankaj Tripathi taking the lead. After “Sooryavanshi,” Akshay has experienced a series of theatrical flops with films like “Bachchhan Paandey,” “Samrat Prithviraj,” “Raksha Bandhan,” “Ram Setu,” “Selfiee,” and “Mission Raniganj.”

It has been almost two and a half years since Akshay Kumar tasted box office success as a lead actor, with “Sooryavanshi” releasing in November 2021.

Could “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” turn the tables?

After a string of failures, Akshay Kumar is in desperate need of a box office success, and “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” seems like the perfect comeback vehicle. In recent times, lavish action films have been performing exceptionally well at the box office if they strike the right chord with the masses. Moreover, the film is helmed by director Ali Abbas Zafar, known for delivering blockbusters like “Sultan” and “Tiger Zinda Hai.” His track record proves his ability to create big-money spinners.

Therefore, there is a glimmer of hope that “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” might put an end to Akshay Kumar’s dry run at the Indian box office. Only time will tell how the box office journey of this magnum opus unfolds. It is touted to be one of the most expensive Bollywood films, with rumors suggesting a budget ranging from 280-350 crores.
