Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi: Shooting ban costs 3 Lakhs’ per day loss to the makers?
While the whole nation is suffering because of the pandemic, the film industry is one of the most affected by the calamity. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s dream project seems facing a huge squandering due to the pandemic. The film was supposed to wrap up and released in 2020 but the film is still trapped in the darkness. According to the reports the filmmakers are facing huge losses every day thanks to the pandemic and shooting ban.
The film is under production for two years now. While the Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi’s shoot was almost completed earlier this year the makers had some very small part left the shoot. Unexpectedly the second wave of coronavirus pandemic hit the country. While the makers were left with just three days of filming remaining. Now filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is stuck since he has no other option but to wait.
A source close to the project told Bollywood Hungama, “Gangubai Kathiawadi needs only three more shooting days. It’s part of a background song filmed on Alia Bhatt—she has no lip-sync songs in this film—which is almost complete. Bhansali was on the verge of completing it when shooting was called off.”
According to the reports the makers have created a lavish set for the film in Film City, which is still up until the remaining shoot is done.
The source added, “It’s costing the co-producers Bhansali and Jayantilal Gada close to 3 lakh rupees per day to keep the set from being demolished. This works out less uneconomical than re-constructing the set when shooting resumes.”
Staring Alia Bhatt Gangubai Kathiawadi is an adaptation of a chapter from Hussain Zaidi’s popular novel Mafia Queens Of Mumbai.
