Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif’s Sooryavanshi re-releases in Gujarat
Sooryavanshi, Akshay Kumar and Rohit Shetty’s debut collaboration, breathed new life into the dying film industry. It was the first major Bollywood film to be released during the pandemic. The film is now being re-released in Gujarat, despite being available on OTT.
That’s right, you read that correctly. Today, Akshay Kumar‘s cop drama gets re-released in Gujarat on roughly 30 non-national multiplex screens. The exhibitors in the state believe that the film will effectively attract a crowd on the auspicious day of Makar Sankranti, delivering a boost to theatres amid the Covid spike.
According to Pinkvilla, Sooryavanshi had a great run in Gujarat, grossing over 42 crores. Let’s see if the film can recapture the magic once more. Sooryavanshi earned 195.04 crores at the Indian box office, almost missing the 200 crore mark by a hair.
Meanwhile, the film reunited Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif after a long time apart. Both actors have a great on-screen chemistry, and they have a great time off-screen as well. During their promotional appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show, the same thing happened.
Akshay had shared that during a shot, Katrina Kaif had slapped him across the face. Kapil asked Katrina if there was ever a time when they had to do a retake in a shot: “While shooting with Akshay pajji in ‘Sooryavanshi’ you romanced and slapped him as well. Which scene had more retakes?”
Katrina replied to this, saying: “There was no retake in the slapping scene, it was shot at one go.” Akshay continued: “It happened in reality. Because the gaps can be seen in a shot, she slapped me in reality.”
