Ajith Kumar is a South Indian actor who was born on 1st May 1971 in Hyderabad. He did his schooling Asan Memorial Senior Secondary School but failed in his 10th class to be a dropout. He wanted to be the part of a creative field; hence when he turned 19, he got the chance to be in a musical song of En Veedu En Kanavar in 1990. At the age of 20, he was chosen by a film production company known as Lakshmi Productions, to act in their movies. However, the death of the director of his film shelved the project, which led him to work in a small budget Telugu movie called Prema Pustakam in the year 1992. This was his first and last venture in Telugu film industry.
He then got his first Tamil film called Amaravathi. The newcomer Selva directed it, and it remained a moderate success. He was bad in his voice that led him to get a voice maker training. Unfortunately, Ajith had to suffer a lot with his accident that led him on the bed after three surgeries. He made a comeback with the film Paasamalargal, and then went on for a supporting lead role in a movie known as Pavithra. In 1995, he was seen in a second lead role in Rajavin Parvaiyile. However, his first big success came in the form of Aasai. Since then it was no looking back for him as he got many movies which kept his career graph up. His next venture Kadhal Kottai was not just big but also helped him bag the National Award.
Some of his movies include Ranganathan, Raasi, Ullaasam, Pagaivan, Rettai Jadai, Kadhal Mannan, Aval Varuvala, Unnidathil Ennai Koduthen, Uyirodu Uyiraga, Thodarum, Unnai Thedi, Vaali, Anantha Poongatre, Amarkalam, and Nee Varuvai Ena. Some of his recent movies include Arrambam, Veeram, Yennai Arindhaal, Vedalam, Vedalam, and Vivegam. His next venture is Viswasam. Besides an actor, he is also a racer and has participated in races like Formula BMW Asia (2003) and Formula 2 (2010). In 2004, he was the brand ambassador of a coffee brand called Nescafe and later did not appear for an ad. He is also passionate about Drone and UAV. The Madras Institute of Technology appointed him as the UAV system advisor, and he participated in the recently held Medical Express-2018 UAV Challenge.
He also runs an NGO called Mohini-Mani Foundation, which he named after his parents. In this NGO he promotes self-hygiene and civic consciousness. During the late nineties, he started dating his co-star Shalini. This happened when he had his breakup with his two earlier ex-girlfriends Heera and Swathi. The couple soon turned gossip for tabloids and later went on to marry in April 2000. The couple has a daughter who was born in 2008 in Chennai. They also have a son who was born in 2015. And talking about the awards, he was nominated at various award functions but managed to get a few. He bagged Filmfare Award for Vaasli, Varalaru Filmfare Award for Best Actor for Tamil movie Villain and many more.
