The film Airlift after getting a good opening on its first day went ahead to collect decent collection during the first weekend. Thanks the high buzz for the film the media has created with Akshay Kumar at the helm of the affair. The film has covered the biggest ever human evacuation witnessed on this planet. Thanks to the good story and the right timing of the release that seemed to have matched to the theme of 26th January that give enough reasons to catch the film. Together with such influx of the audience rushing in to the theatres, the film has managed to do much better over the box office.
As per reports, the first weekend box office report tolled to around 44.30 cores, with Sunday collection tolling to 17.35 and Saturday giving a decent figure of 16 crores beating the other release on the same day called Kya Kool Hai Hum 3. When you compare Akshay Kumar other movies based on the same theme with movies like Baby and Holiday, the films turned out to be the top grocers despite being not falling in the entertainment sector. The weekend collection seems to have gone better than the last three releases of Akshay Kumar.
