PV Sindhu nails in final, brought gold for India

Olympic medallist PV Sindhu Today defeated Canadian Michelle Li in the badminton match of women’s singles at the the final of Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. This is the first-ever gold in Sidhu’s career in the Commonwealth Games. PV didn’t even let the match go till the third set and won the match in the second set itself. She won the set by 21-15, 21-13 to bag the gold medal for India.

The Indian shuttler got a great start and was leading by 11-8 in the first half of the first set. Her opponent also played well, but PV didn’t let her go a long way. She dominated the game from the first set itself. The result was 21-15 a win for Sindhu. The Canadian player made an error and with every error, PV was at a great advantage. At the half of the 2nd set, PV was in a great position with 11 points in her bag and 6 in her opponents. After that, she won the set by 21-13 and bagged the gold medal for India in the Commonwealth Games.

Sindhu won gold in the mixed team event of the Commonwealth Games in the year 2018. She also won a bronze medal in the year 2014 in women’s single. Sindhu had earlier won a silver in the mixed team event.

“I had been waiting for this gold for a long time and finally I have got it. I am super happy. Thanks to the crowd, they made me win today,” said Sindhu after winning the final
