Aditya Chopra is set to direct DDLJ again after 26 years and it will mark his debut as a director on Broadway

Yash Raj Films is India’s largest studio, and its Chairman and Managing Director, Aditya Chopra, has directed and produced some of the country’s biggest hits. His first film, the historical romantic film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, was released in 1995 and is still in theatres. It is known as DDLJ and is one of the highest-grossing films in Indian cinema history, as well as the most valuable IP in the country’s large and diverse film industry.
Aditya Chopra is set to direct DDLJ for the first time in 26 years, and it will be his Broadway debut. Because of their underlying similarities, he believes Broadway and Indian cinema are ‘two long lost lovers separated in time.’ Both highlight heart-warming stories and human emotions via song and dance. Aditya has been working on this passion project for the past three years, assembling a brilliant, incredibly diverse crew that includes some of Broadway’s and India’s best performers.
Yash Raj Films is producing Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical. The musical will be based on an original story by Chopra and will have Laurence Oliver Award-winning book and lyrics by Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde, Mean Girls), as well as famous Indian songwriters Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani as composers. Rob Ashford (Frozen, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Boys from Syracuse) and associate choreographer Shruti Merchant (Frozen, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Boys from Syracuse) will choreograph. Set design by Emmy and Tony Award winner Derek McLane and music supervision by Tony, Grammy, and Emmy Award winner Bill Sherman will round out the creative team. The project’s Executive Producer is Adam Zotovich.
