Actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar passes away

A sad day today indeed for Bollywood, as one of the known actors of B Town Sadashiv Amrapurkar has passed away. He was 64 years and was being treated for lung infections at the known Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. He passed away this morning around 3 am. He was hospitalized for around two weeks ago for the lung infection and was admitted recently at Intensive Care Unit (ICU). His career in Bollywood, and has won a number of awards including the two prestigious Filmfare awards. These include under the category of best supporting actor for the movie ‘Ardh Satya’ , while in the year 1991, he won the best villain trophy for his ruthless eunuch for the movie called ‘Sadak’.

Some of his known movies include ‘Mr. India’, ‘Ishq’, ‘Aankhen’, Gupt, ‘Coolie No. 1’ etc. He hails from a village in Maharashtra coming from a strict Brahmin family. He was fondly known as Tatya by his family members and his close friends. Apart from his acting assignments, he was also seen in a number of social causes and stood even for the betterment of the underprivileged. Sadashiv Amrapurkar got married to his old school girl friend Sunanda Karmarkar. Since his school days, the deceased actor participated in a number of acting assignments.

The veteran actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar was successful in carving a niche in Bollywood industry apart from being a man with social causes and for being a responsible citizen. Indeed, he would be remembered for his power packed performance for the movie Sadak. The actor is known for playing negative character in Bollywood movies and was even applauded for his comedy roles.
