Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par & Rajkummar Rao’s Bhool Chuk Maaf Likely to Clash on May 9

The summer of 2024 was rather uneventful for moviegoers, with only a handful of films hitting cinemas in April and May. Concerns are mounting that 2025 could follow suit, particularly in May. Currently, the only confirmed release is Ajay Devgn‘s Raid 2, scheduled for May 1. However, buzz within trade circles suggests that two additional films may join the lineup.

According to Bollywood Hungama, Aamir Khan is expected to release his highly anticipated film Sitaare Zameen Par on May 30. Initially aiming for a June release, Aamir realized that May 30 would be a more strategic date, especially since the IPL will conclude on March 25.Directed by R S Prasanna, known for Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017), Sitaare Zameen Par also stars Genelia Deshmukh.

Also, sources indicate that Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films is considering moving the release of the romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf from April 10 to May 9. The trade source explained, “With Sunny Deol’s Jaat and Phule set to release on April 10, and Salman Khan’s Sikandar premiering on March 30, alongside Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2 on April 18, there’s a crowded schedule. Recently, Excel Entertainment announced that Emraan Hashmi’s Ground Zero will be released on April 25.

Given this situation, Bhool Chuk Maaf might not find adequate space in April, making May 9 a more favorable option.”An industry expert noted, “It’s a fortuitous release week for Rajkummar Rao. Last year, Srikanth (2024) debuted at the same time and performed exceptionally well.”

Rajkummar Rao, Bhool Chuk Maaf features Wamiqa Gabbi and revolves around a unique and humorous plot. Its teaser was attached to the prints of Chhaava, also produced by Maddock Films.The trade source clarified, “The makers of both Sitaare Zameen Par and Bhool Chuk Maaf have not finalized their decisions yet, but these two dates are under serious consideration, with announcements expected soon.”

Another exciting film to look forward to in May is Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, starring Tom Cruise, set to hit theaters on May 23. If these films manage to secure their proposed dates, April and May could offer an exciting cinematic experience for moviegoers.
