Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par Postponed, Now Aiming for a Mid-2025 Release
Aamir Khan recently provided an exciting update on his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, during the Red Sea International Film Festival. He announced that the film is now slated for a mid-2025 release, putting to rest earlier speculation about a December 2024 debut. This sequel to his iconic 2007 film, Taare Zameen Par, which starred Darsheel Safary, has been highly anticipated since its announcement.
Speaking to Deadline at the festival in Jeddah, Aamir shared, “We are entering post-production later this month and aim to be ready for a mid-next year release.” He emphasized that while Sitaare Zameen Par is thematically linked to its predecessor, it will feature an entirely new cast and storyline. “It’s a fresh set of characters, completely new situations and plot,” he explained, hinting at a different narrative approach while retaining the emotional depth that resonated with audiences in the first film.In addition to discussing Sitaare Zameen Par,
Aamir revealed plans for several other projects under his production banner. He is set to produce Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and starring Sunny Deol. Furthermore, he is backing his son Junaid Khan’s film, titled Ek Din, which features Sai Pallavi in a leading role.Aamir also mentioned a third production in which he will act, though he kept the details under wraps. Additionally, he announced an Austin Powers-inspired film being written and directed by Vir Das, who will also star in it. Currently, Aamir is busy promoting his film Laapataa Ladies as part of an Oscar campaign, showcasing his commitment to both his craft and his family.
