Aamir Khan’s 60th Birthday Celebration: PVR INOX to Re-Release Lagaan, Taare Zameen Par, Rang De Basanti, and More; Half Girlfriend, Karz Also Set for Big Screen Comeback — Sanjeev Kumar Bijli Spills the Details!

Despite the seemingly quiet month of March, PVR INOX is implementing innovative strategies to boost foot traffic to its cinemas. Alongside screening new releases such as The DiplomatMickey 17Snow WhiteKingstoneThe Day The Earth Blew Up, and Sikandar, India’s largest multiplex chain has also planned a series of re-releases of beloved films. Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, a key figure at PVR INOX, stated, “The Oscar film festival will continue, highlighting films that have won Oscars. Unfortunately, Anora didn’t receive a censor certificate, so it won’t be screened in India. However, films like The Brutalist, Wicked, Conclave, and A Real Pain will continue to be showcased.”
In celebration of Women’s Day, PVR INOX will re-release QueenFashion, and Highway, with additional re-releases throughout the month including LooteraShaadi Mein Zaroor AanaLamheThe Karate Kid (1984), Half GirlfriendKarz, and Ghatak. An entire Aamir Khan Film Festival featuring 12 to 13 of his films is also on the horizon.According to a press statement from PVR INOX, notable Aamir Khan films set for re-release on his birthday include LagaanTaare Zameen ParRang De BasantiDil Chahta Hai, and PK. The festival will also highlight regional classics like Kumbalangi Nights and Sairat.
When asked if the festival would begin on March 14, coinciding with Khan’s birthday, Bijli confirmed, “Yes, that’s the idea.”Sanjeev Kumar Bijli also shared his past collaboration with Aamir Khan, mentioning that they co-produced Taare Zameen Par and Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. He expressed admiration for Khan, stating, “He remains one of the best actors in the industry and a thought leader.”Bijli further explained how re-releases have effectively increased foot traffic, stating, “It started out of necessity due to fewer film releases.
The phenomenal response to films like Rockstar, Laila Majnu, and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has given us the confidence to establish a dedicated department for curation and re-releases.”Gautam Dutta, CEO of Revenue and Operations at PVR INOX, added, “With March Movie Mania, we are bringing together an electrifying lineup of global blockbusters, iconic classics, and exclusive engagements, celebrating the love for cinema.
