On the special occasion of his 54th birthday, popular actor Aamir Khan has announced that he will be starring in the Bollywood remake of Tom Hank’s Oscar-winning 1994 movie Forrest Gump. The movie will be directed by filmmaker Advait Chandan, and has been titled Laal Singh Chadha.
Advait Chandan was Aamir Khan’s manager before turning into a director and filmmaker. He made his directorial debut with the 2017 Aamir Khan Productions’ film, Secret Superstar, in which Aamir Khan starred as well.
Aamir Khan said to the media today on the occasion of his birthday, “I have an announcement for my fans and media. I have finalized my next film and it is titled Laal Singh Chadha. It is a remake of American film Forrest Gump. It is being made by Viacom 18 and Aamir Khan Productions. Advait Chandan will direct it. We have bought the rights from Paramount Pictures.”
The not-so-secret Superstar also revealed that the role requires him to lose 20 kgs and that he will be wearing a turban in this Forrest Gump remake. The star has also disclosed that he has started preparing for the role already, and the preparations will last 6 months. This movie is will go on floors in September this year and is expected to release next year in 2020. Aamir Khan also shared with the reporters, “I have always liked Forrest Gump. It is a wonderful story. It is a feel-good film. It is a film for the whole family.”
Forrest Gump is based on the 1986 novel by Winston Groom, by the same name. The movie was directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Eric Roth. Hollywood superstar Tom Hanks starred in the movie in the lead role, along with Hollywood actors like Wright, Gary Sinise, Mykelti Williamson and Sally Field. Forrest Gump won six Academy Awards – including ones for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Visual Effects and Best Film Editing.
