Aamir Khan vs Akshay Kumar: Makers of Raksha Bandhan refuse to drop release date for Laal Singh Chaddha
Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha is one of the Bollywood films that has been hit hard by the 2-year-long pandemic. As its release date was recently fixed for August 11 by the makers to avoid clashes with KGF Chapter 2 and Beast, it is now set to release in a day for Akshay Kumar‘s Raksha Bandhan. Recent reports suggest that unless Aamir’s film is pushed again for a second date, a clash between the two films is inevitable.
Laal Singh Chaddha is an upcoming drama film inspired by Tom Hanks’ Hollywood classic Forrest Gump. The film stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and South Indian actor Naga Chaitanya in lead roles and is directed by Advait Chandan. Aamir Khan is one of the lead roles in this film, which was started in 2019.
The makers of Laal Singh Chaddha declared on social media a few weeks ago that they were delaying the release date due to unfinished portions of the film. According to Bollywood Life, the directors have attempted to explore what can be done about the box office clash because the film is now competing with Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan.
A source close to the development told them that Laal Singh Chaddha makers have sent feelers to Akshay Kumar but the latter is highly unlikely to move their release date. Since the movie is titled Raksha Bandhan, they want the film to hit theatres on August 11th as the optimistic festival itself falls on that day this year.

 A similar source also suggests that Akshay Kumar is quite confident about his mass appeal which is why he might go forward with the same release date even if it clashes with Laal Singh Chaddha.
