Gully Boy has done a decent business at the box office. Thanks to the content rich and good performance based film, everyone seemed to have applauded the movie. The film has opened the doors for an altogether new genre of films in B Town. It deals with the story of a young boy based in slums and aspires to be a rapper one day. It has showcased his struggle to pursue his dreams and become a known rapper in the music world. Ranveer Singh played the role of this aspiring rapper called Murad while Alia Bhatt as his love interest called Safeena too impressed the audience with yet another performance.
As per the director Zoya Akhtar, she has started her work for the sequel and the script for it is on its away. Confirming about the same in an interview with a national daily she said that the script is being scripted for the sequel as people now like to know as to what happened to Murad and Safeena. She said that her film has dealt with a unique kind of genre of music and has several stories to narrate in the media. This is the reason why she and her writer Reema Kagti are planning to have a sequel to Gully Boy.
She said that both she and her writer feel that there are much more things to tell about the hip hop culture one has in India. This is the reason why is now jotting down the script as planned. Well, this is a big news for the fans of Ranveer Singh apart from the newbie who did the prequel called Siddhant Chaturvedi playing the character of MC Sher. Gully Boy has become a successful movies of 2019 in B Town and the songs from the films like Azaadi, Apna Time Ayega and Mere Gully Mein too did well at the chartbuster. The film also got the chance to get screened at the Berlin International Film Festival.
