Aneet Padda’s Shakti Shalini May Avoid Clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s King; Eyeing March 2027 Release

Maddock Films’ upcoming horror-comedy Shakti Shalini is reportedly adjusting its theatrical release timeline. The film, which expands Dinesh Vijan’s successful Horror Comedy Universe, was initially planned for a December 2026 release. This would have set up a major box office clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s highly anticipated action thriller King.

Recent reports suggest that the makers are now reconsidering that holiday window. Instead of December 2026, the studio is eyeing a first-quarter release in 2027, specifically targeting March. A source told Mid-day that while Christmas was originally considered ideal, the producers wanted to ensure a strong solo window for lead actor Aneet Padda following her breakout success in Saiyaara (2025).

The source further detailed the reasoning behind selecting March over other early 2027 dates. January is packed with big-ticket titles like Love and War and Golmaal 5, while February features releases like Naagzilla and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Mupapa. In comparison, March offers a relatively open slate for a major theatrical run, though an exact date has yet to be finalized.

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Shakti Shalini adds a fresh chapter to the franchise that includes hit titles like Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya. Blending folklore, supernatural elements, and humor, the story introduces female-centric spirit lore designed to expand the cinematic universe. Aneet Padda headlines the project alongside Vishal Jethwa and the late Nana Patekar.

With post-production progressing at full speed, Maddock Films is expected to officially confirm the finalized release schedule soon. Until then, the early 2027 window remains the primary target for the studio.
